The builders have posted information about the old waterways, which says that you can still hear Brewery Creek if you stick your ear up to the storm drain at… ah shit, now I forget, I think it was 20th and Ontario? Should have written it down. It also talks about the name Brewery Creek, which didn’t come from one brewery, it came from about half a dozen of them that plunked themselves down on the creek’s banks before 1900. The creek drained Tea Swamp, another long-gone Vancouver feature that used to be just south of Mount Pleasant, where tea really was harvested. Brewery Creek, Tea Swamp, Mount Pleasant… I like these simple, obvious names for places.
